I started investing young. My first buy was $800 of Apple stock at 13. I sold it for $2,100, traveled China, met my wife, and built my career. Held to today it'd be worth around $10 million — but what I got instead was priceless.

After Renren.com IPO'd on the NYSE I moved to San Francisco. My own startup died, and Dave McClure brought me into 500 Startups (now 500 Global) Batch 8 as an Entrepreneur in Residence. I mentored companies, made a single angel investment on AngelList, and lost all my money. The bubble didn't suit me, so I went back to operating as a Chief Product Officer / Chief Technology Officer — Singapore, then Bali, now Chiang Mai.

In 2020 I joined Accelerating Asia, where we made many of the investments below. Startups tagged Investment & Advisory are ones I hold a small stake in through my time there, advising them across the cohort.
